Dear brother or sister in Christ,
GPM was founded out of the hurt from our son’s incarceration. I was hurting so badly I didn’t know where to turn. Thankfully, I ran to God instead of running away, like so many do. I went to God in prayer with tears and hurt and sometimes silence. I didn’t need the words; He knew my heart.
He led me to find peace and healing in the very place where so much hurt stemmed… the prison. I could not have ever imagined serving in prison ministry any other time in my life, but I absolutely know without a shadow of a doubt that is where He called me to.
The moment I directed my energy to helping others instead of dwelling on my own hurting, I began to find peace and healing. It changed me so much that I changed my email address to reflect the moment in time that I truly knew what it was to have JOY no matter the circumstances, a joy that is only possible through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:12–13
If you are going through a hard time due to a loved one that is incarcerated, reach out to us. You were not meant to carry this burden alone. Many of us have been where you are: in the shock stage, the mad-at-God stage, the I-can’t-leave-this-house stage.
Friends, we are better together. Let’s talk. Let’s pray. Let’s serve together. The enemy might think he’s won, but don’t let him! Let us give God the glory for the way He is going to use this dark moment to bring so much light you can’t even imagine!
